Stick a fork in it...


Cause this mofo is done!

I changed the palm tree pot color so it wasn't the same as the tree. I tried some other colors but it just didn't blend well when I tried to make it anything other than brownish or gray. It just didn't read as stone anymore.

Onto finishing up the highway scene now...

So, I havent been able to post the past few days because I've been out of town and the only internet was my phone. But I've been working, made some of the suggested changes. And here is what I have now...

Romero Update

I've been doing some test runs with the card design I made last weekend and I'm torn.
Here is the old design:

There is a white border, which shows where the card would be cut.

Here is the new design, with slight variations:

The main text centered on the card and..

The main text has an offset, making the contact info block more centered on the card.
I chose not to show where the cut of portion of the card would be on the new designs as it would not effect the overall design after being cut.

I have also be working on how I'm going to explain some of the projects I've worked on for the flat book. Its becoming a bit difficult trying to explain some complex code in as few words as possible, but I think I have a way that will work.

Street Scene and Update


So I'm pretty close to finished on the street corner scene. Just have to detail the base and throw in some grass clumps by the building.

I'm having some issues with the grunge map alpha's showing up all pixelated but I think that is just an issue with the texture map being too small for those parts.

The highway scene just needs the base painted now, some grass added, and position some objects. Pieces of the Viking scene needs a little love yet, but it's getting all day tomorrow dedicated to it.

Anyone going to be around school on Monday that can help with some lighting and rendering?

Progress

Added an additional propane tank asset to ShantytownSkirmish. Created a fracture mesh out of it so it explodes into chunks upon taking damage, and has a PhysMaterial applied to playback a sound cue when it detonates. Scattered those around the map for more visual breakup, and added the pipes I used in Project Seacliff to the level. Used that to help break up the opening shot a bit.

Finalizing logo design today. Updating new design across everything; website, business cards, resume, etc. Place the order for my business card on Monday, have them in the beginning of Week 10.

Other than that. Still waiting on Newegg to refund my money, so I can buy a new laptop.

edit, just ammending this post with the addition of the cyborg with his textures. I added the glow like you suggested. All 3 of these still need spec maps, thats my next step, then pose and export. Current images are maya viewport 2.0.

jack week 7

This week I fixed the few issues I found with my demo reel and redid that aswell as I finished my second Gears of War PC mp level mp_highway and posted it on epic forums for feedback and further testing. I also started and made good progress on my portfolio website, I have all the pages created and blocked out with place holder text and images and got lightbox in there. So next I just have to write up my LD pages and create my images which is the main project for this week. Ontop of that I started a new gears of war mp level as a speed test for myself, after 6 hours of work on staruday I have the layout done with tweaks to fix some of the issues that came up from taking the level from a 2d space to a 3d space. I also have all the cover placed through out the level, the first lighting and PP pass and I have 95% of the cover static meshed out. Pretty good amount of work for 6 hours. So next week I will be trying to finish my portfolio website, my new MP level and taking my SP level further, although I think I will be leaving the SP level in a mainly BSP stage, who knows.

Romero Update

I've fixed an issue I noticed in the Yeti Plower video and made a (near?) final cut of my demo reel. It can be seen here:
I might re-cut another one tomorrow if I'm able to fine a bug that popped up when I was making rending tweaks to the air hockey game.

Heres progress on the dragons texture before I go to bed.


He will make it into the reel, I will probably finish him tomorrow night/sunday morning. Rig, pose and record turn tables for him on Sunday night. Re-edit my reel monday for turn ins on tuesday in class.

JSiu Updates

Here are a few updates based on the 'to do list:



-Kraken -I took out the original lighting and relit the scene. Lighting isn't my forte. If you have any tips or suggestions I'd love to hear them... Maybe Friday after capturing the footage you can help me with this?


-Church Scene- I bent the fences and will do another pass on the textures. I started adding in the creeping Ivy. I'd like to discuss this with you again this Friday as well...

Here is some zbrush progress on the dragon I made in class today while waiting for those dudes to show up.

I don't know if he'll make it into my reel in this version for Graduation but I will finish him. If I can I'm going to try and get a 3D print of him done for my table at the portfolio show... depends.


edit: here is progress from last night when I went to bed.

Adam - Street Scene Update

After talking with Todd last week I've got a much clearer handle on this ambiguous (to me) street corner scene I've been working on. I built a new backdrop from scratch for it and it's all unwrapped and in the process of being textured at the moment. Keeping with the Art Deco theme but stripping out the problem areas means I can still use the potted palm tree and hotel sign on this building but have a tighter, more confined piece instead.

The palm tree's will sit on either side of the door and the hotel sign will be attached to the brick above the window. I'm also going to try and incorporate the fire hydrant and stop sign in here but I'm not sure where to believably place the stop sign at the moment. :/
Suppose I could extend the base more towards the back by the pipes and put it there at the very edge (it will make the door look more like a back door then I guess).

JSiu Update

Here's a quick shot of the updated Kraken. He originally had 4 ships in his tentacles but I switched it out for remnant of a mast instead.



Just a quick update-

Added grime alphas and trash to subway scene, Kraken updated with textures and plant alphas, Church Scene updated with plant alphas...

Still cutting together my 2nd version reel...

Scott Romero Update
